Sure, he's sour, and a little bit sweet! This festive pickle might be decorative but man, does he look good enough to eat.
Pickle ornaments were considered a special decoration by many families in and from Germany where the fir tree was decorated on Christmas Eve. The pickle was always the last ornament to be hung on the tree, with the parents hiding it in the green boughs. When the children were allowed to view the tree they would begin gleefully searching for the pickle ornament. The children knew that whoever first found the special ornament would receive an extra little gift left by St. Nicholas for the most observant child.
Be careful! Anyone who touches the ornament in their search is usually disqualified.
